michigan.
guess what? Audrey and i are Michigan-bound on thursday!! i'm so, so looking forward to this trip! originally i had planned to do a super awesome road trip with my dad, but it would take about three days total when you consider that i would have to drive all the way from my house to my dad's, then turn around the next day and drive straight to Michigan (or break it into 2 days to MI). Will's mom kindly offered us her frequent flier points and we booked a non-stop flight from Jacksonville, FL to Detroit, MI! my dad is going to pick me up at 7 pm on Thursday night and our "road trip" will begin there, i suppose :)
we had a great time this weekend at the Boatright/Crummey family reunion! it was so great to see cousins, aunts, and uncles, as well as meet some of my extended, extended family. Audrey has not been feeling so great lately. she has been more clingy than usual, running a low-grade temperature some days, and is just plain cranky for the most part. bless her little heart! i hope she gets through whatever this is before the three hour flight! she did fairly well at the reunion, considering there were a ton of people there wanting to love on her! Audrey has taken a liking to bracelets, necklaces, and earrings as Will's mom, sister, and i are usually wearing at least one of the three. i happened to be wearing a long necklace with little charms on it that she took a liking to sticking in her mouth. whenever she went to someone new, the necklace had to go with! it was humorous to see Uncle Kerry with a frilly necklace around his neck and a content little girl in his arms (with part of the necklace stuffed in her mouth, per usual).
this morning, after getting another delightful round of vaccinations for baby A, we took her to get her first hair cut!!! she's been growing this weird double mullet/rat-tail combo looking hot mess in the back of her head for months now. i kept thinking the sides would catch up; however, they did not and it started to look strange :)
i wish i had more pictures to post but every time the camera comes out lately, this is all i get:
she is so curious about EVERYTHING! and so nosey too! i've actually had to start telling her "no" (gently, because she obviously doesn't understand what that means yet) because she is so fiesty and wants to put her hands on and in everything. she is also prone to slapping you in the face a few times if it suits her :) i think i'm going to have my hands full! she's crawling around with speed now, and loves to bounce up and down on her butt (ha!). she also started pulling herself up to stand and has taken a few tentative steps while holding onto the couch, table, or crib rails!
also wanted to post this picture from a month ago (excuse the hair and general slob appearance -- i was on Day 3 of a nasty sinus infection at the time and Audrey was on Day 1 of the same bug). i was trying to explain to Will's cousins, Lauren and Leanne, how i manage to clean, cook, and do chores when Audrey is sick and clingy or just being whiny and not wanting me to leave her sight. what to do? carry my little 16 1/2 pounder around in a baby carrier -- the wonderful Moby wrap! she's comfy and happy, and i get to be productive no matter what the mood is.
speaking of clingy, i took this picture earlier today while i was working (girl has to be less than 2 feet away from me at all times, preferably right underneath my feet!)
i was working from Jen's house updating pages with our new Lilly and Laura bracelets. we got the pre-order in this week and i can't wait until the rest ships in from Nepal! they are bright, colorful, fun bracelets that are handcrafted by women from small, outlying villages in Nepal. proceeds from each purchase go to helping their family!! the shipment should be in the first week of July, so if any of my readers are interested in purchasing a bracelet or two, keep an eye for color options and such on our page!

as of lately.
Audrey is doing new things every day! I love seeing her face when she realizes that she's done something new, like learn to go from her tummy or back to sitting all by herself, or feeding herself puff snacks for the first time. both of these new skills happened this week! i walked in to get Audrey up from her nap, expecting her to be on her stomach with her cute little head peeking at me over the crib rail. instead, i walked in to this:
my first reaction was to laugh, look at her face! she almost looks scared! my second reaction was to get really excited that she learned how to do that and then promptly put her back on her stomach so i could watch her do it again. it was adorable. although it has presented a small problem when she's trying to go to sleep. now, when she wakes up and starts to fuss a little (sometimes this happens about 30-45 minutes after i put her to bed) she sits up instead of just lifting her head up. she can't figure out how to get back to laying down from sitting up so she just cries and rubs her eyes. last night when i went in to lay her back down, she reached her arms out for me (another first)! it was so sweet!
now that everything has come together, i can finally tell you all about my new job!!! in April, Will's mom and i were throwing around ideas about opening a baby boutique here in Waycross. a small children's clothing store in the area was for sale at the time, so that's what sparked her idea. she approached me and asked if i would be interested in helping her run it! while Will and i were packing, she was visiting nearby children's stores to get a better idea of what having her own store would entail. she met two women who owned their own boutique called Rockin' Robin. they were interested in opening a sister store and Will's mom decided to pair up with them to open her own store in Waycross! I'm so excited to be a part of this adventure with her. I can work from home (no day care for Audrey! hooray!!) as the marketing director (fun!) and coordinate the online sales, update our website, Facebook page, and blog with new inventory, and run online customer support. my first week was this past week and it went great! Audrey either napped or played in her pack n play while i did some data mining, networking, and set us up for online social media outlets. she was such a good little helper! although she was a little bit fussy today (more teething woes), she was content to sit in my lap and gum on a cold apple slice for a little while and then played with her toys and snacked on some puffs before taking her second 2 hour nap of the day.
I'm also beginning a new blogging endeavor as well, posing as Ursula -- an ultra hip, ex-Betsy Johnson mannequin who gives children's clothing and fashion advice as well as answer reader questions about the latest fashion trends (Emi-Jay hair bands anyone?) It's more of a funny, quirky blog -- hope you get a kick out of it! Here's the address: http://askforfashionUrsula.blogspot.com
