Will and i had our consultation Thursday morning to talk with my primary OB and discuss what is going to be best for Audrey and I health-wise from here on out. at our ultrasound, baby was weighing in at about 6 lbs. and in the 48th percentile so she is not too big, not too small (just right!) for 36 weeks. everything seemed to be functioning just fine which is a relief. we've all had some serious concerns about how her liver is handling everything. on the non-stress test, we again had to be monitored for an extended time due to low and weak movement. all of this factored with another week of elevation in bile levels lead the doctor to make the decision to induce me on Monday night! we will be doing an overnight treatment of Cervadil and start Pitocin in the morning. looks like baby boatright will be here sometime on Tuesday!
as exciting as it is to finally meet our daughter, looming over my head is the warning that my doctor gave us during our consultation: baby is not yet full term, which means there is a chance for some NICU time due to underdeveloped lungs and problems with her suckling/feeding reflex. we are hoping and praying for little to no time in the NICU unit. i can't imagine leaving the hospital without her!
Will and i spent most of Thursday in shock. we knew there was a chance that they would take her early, we just didn't realize it would be this early. Will's mom and sister arrived for a visit an hour after we left the doctor's office and we went straight to work putting the finishing touches on the nursery and making a trip to target for some last minute things. i'm so thankful that they had planned a trip to see us when they did! we had a great time!
it's taken a few days, but Will and i are finally adjusting to the change in plans and he's been so encouraging and reassuring. having a baby early when my body isn't ready is going to be difficult and we are preparing for a long journey ahead. so, i guess this is our last child-free weekend for the next 18+ years, eh? :) what to do? go fishing of course! as well as relax and enjoy time together before we become a family of three.
here are a few pictures of the nursery. thank you to Jen and Ann for helping me put everything together and especially to Jen for all of her hard work and personal touch on the handmade items.
the outfit above is for Audrey's newborn pictures at the hospital. it's a tradition in Will's family for baby to wear a Feldman Brothers gown when they are born and i am proud to carry on that tradition with Audrey!
i will definitely try my best to keep everyone as updated as possible! maybe Will can finally make his debut post on here if i am not feeling up to it :) it's going to be strange not being pregnant anymore! Will walked into the living room this morning to find me sitting on the couch, watching the Michigan game, with a plate sitting next to me on the couch. on it was an almost finished pizza crust and a wrapper from a sleeve of my favorite snack right now, vanilla cookies! he paused, looked at me, and said, "please tell me you did not eat pizza and cookies for breakfast??" oh, but it did! hey, i'm only pregnant for a couple more days. have to enjoy it while i have an excuse, right?
The nursery looks just wonderful, Lindsey...will be keeping all of you in my prayers today. Love you...
